Nov. 12 - Faculty & Friends Concert Series: Nashville Double Reed Ensemble

The 16-member Nashville Double Reed Ensemble, made up of oboes, oboe d'amore, English horns, bassoons and contrabassoons, will bring its colorful tonal richness to Lipscomb University’s Ward Hall at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12. This concert is free and open to the public.
Lipscomb Wind Ensemble conductor Stephen Rhodes will conduct. The Nashville Double Reed Ensemble has performed locally at Bachanlia at Christ Church Cathedral, Middle Tennessee State University, Columbia State Community College, Nashville Public Library, and WPLN’s “Live in Studio C.”
The program for the evening will include various ensemble selections including new works by Traci Mendel, David Alterman and Harold Skelton, and tango and jazz arrangements by Dewayne Pigg.
The Nashville Double Reed Ensemble was founded in 2003 by its artistic director Dewayne Pigg, professor of music and double reeds at Middle Tennessee State University and oboe instructor at Lipscomb University. Pigg plays the oboe, oboe d'amore and English horn in the ensemble.
Players are Pigg, Margie Yankeelov, Robby Shankle, Laura Boucher, Jeff Smith, Rachel Maczko, Miriam Lense, Amanda Thompson, Nicole McVey, Sally Reid, Kate Affainie, Wilson Sharpe, Harold Skelton, Dong-Yun Kwon, Patricia Gunter and Andrew Witherington.
